Though wearing Invisalign aligners in Marietta, Georgia is more comfortable than traditional metal braces, you may still experience some occasional discomfort. A common complaint is the soreness of Invisalign from the pressure your teeth feel when they’re moving. There may even be a spot on your tray that’s rough and bothers your tongue, or inside of your lip.
How To Handle Discomfort from Invisalign
To relieve Invisalign discomfort you can try the following tips:
Pain medication – The first couple of days of every new pair of aligners is when your teeth may be sore. While the discomfort will go away on its own soon enough, you may want to take some ibuprofen for fast relief.
Visit your Marietta dentist – If there is a sharp or rough spot on your aligner that’s rubbing the inside of your cheek, then come in for us to adjust that area for you. Don’t attempt to do any alterations yourself, as you could ruin the aligner and cause it not to work properly.
Using dental wax – If you can’t make it to the dentist right away, then placing some dental wax over the rough areas can protect your mouth.
Eating soft foods – During the first couple of days of each new set of aligners, you should eat soft foods that don’t require a lot of pressure while chewing.
