Straighter Teeth Are Just the Start: The Complete Smile and Facial Aesthetics Experience at Kincer Orthodontics

When most people schedule an orthodontic consultation, they’re thinking about teeth. Crooked ones they’d like to straighten, a crowded bite they’ve been self-conscious about, maybe a gap that’s always bothered them. What many patients at Kincer Orthodontics in Marietta don’t expect is to leave that first appointment realizing their smile goals go a little further than they initially thought.

Dr. William R. Kincer, D.M.D., has spent more than three decades studying the relationship between teeth, jaws, lips, and facial proportions. An honors graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Dr. Kincer’s understanding of facial anatomy runs deep — deep enough that his West Cobb practice offers something few orthodontic offices do: a comprehensive menu of facial aesthetic treatments designed to complement and complete the smile transformation process.

Why an Orthodontist Is Uniquely Positioned for Facial Aesthetics

The way an orthodontist sees a patient’s face is fundamentally different from most dental specialists. Where others focus on isolated structures, orthodontists analyze the teeth, bite, jaw, lips, and facial profile as an integrated system. Proportion, symmetry, and the way the face moves are central to every treatment plan.

That same analytical framework translates directly to facial aesthetics. Understanding how the lips drape over teeth, how chin position affects profile, how cheek volume interacts with smile width — these are not separate disciplines for Dr. Kincer. They’re different expressions of the same expertise.

What Facial Aesthetic Treatments Does Dr. Kincer Offer?

At Kincer Orthodontics, adult patients have access to a range of FDA-approved injectable treatments that can work alongside or following orthodontic care:

  • Botox: One of the most widely studied cosmetic injectables in the world, Botox temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles — forehead lines, crow’s feet, and the vertical creases between the brows. For orthodontic patients, Botox can also help manage jaw muscle hyperactivity and bruxism-related tension that can interfere with treatment comfort.
  • Juvederm: A hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler that restores lost volume and smooths moderate to deep lines. Commonly used to enhance lip volume, soften nasolabial folds, and restore cheek fullness — areas that often appear changed as the smile improves and patients become more attuned to their overall facial appearance.
  • Restylane: Another hyaluronic acid filler with a range of formulations suited to different treatment areas, from subtle lip definition to under-eye hollows and cheek enhancement.
  • Kybella: An injectable treatment that permanently destroys fat cells beneath the chin, reducing the appearance of a double chin without surgery. For patients who notice profile concerns after orthodontic jaw repositioning, Kybella can be a meaningful finishing touch.

The Smile-Face Connection No One Talks About

Here’s something orthodontic patients discover repeatedly: fixing your teeth changes more than your teeth. As the bite corrects and teeth align, the lips often fill out more evenly. Facial symmetry improves. The profile shifts subtly as jaw positioning adjusts. Patients who came in for crooked teeth frequently leave — months or years later — looking genuinely refreshed.

But orthodontic movement has its limits. Volume loss in the cheeks or lips, fine lines that deepened over the years of treatment, a jawline that could benefit from subtle refinement — these are features that orthodontics doesn’t address and wasn’t designed to. Facial aesthetics step in exactly here: completing the picture that orthodontic treatment starts.

Timing Matters: Sequencing Orthodontics and Aesthetic Treatments

For patients considering both orthodontic treatment and facial aesthetic enhancements, the order of treatment matters. In most cases, orthodontic treatment should come first. As teeth and bite alignment shift throughout treatment, the lips and surrounding facial structures respond accordingly. Introducing fillers or other aesthetic changes before orthodontic treatment is complete may require adjustments once the final smile is achieved.

That said, some aesthetic treatments integrate naturally into the orthodontic timeline. Botox for jaw muscle tension or temporomandibular discomfort, for example, can be appropriate during active treatment. Dr. Kincer discusses the ideal sequence during consultation, helping patients understand what makes sense at each stage of their smile journey.

Who Benefits Most from This Combined Approach?

Adults who are currently in orthodontic treatment or who have recently completed it often find that facial aesthetic consultations open doors they hadn’t considered. The conversation tends to happen organically — a patient notices they’re smiling more confidently and begins paying attention to other aspects of their appearance.

Patients who may particularly benefit include those who notice volume changes in the lips or cheeks as their smile evolves, those experiencing jaw muscle discomfort or tension headaches during treatment, adults who want the overall refreshed look that a complete smile transformation can deliver, and anyone who wants to maximize the impact of a significant investment in their appearance and oral health.

Teens are not candidates for injectable aesthetics, but adult patients — broadly defined as patients whose facial growth is complete — can typically explore these options at any point during or after orthodontic care.

  • We are beyond thankful for Dr. Kincer and his team!! Dr. Kincer is one of the most honest and conservative Orthodontist, which is a VERY rare find in the industry. We moved to south Florida about halfway through our treatment of 18 months and did not switch orthodontists; that’s how much Dr. Kincer means to us! Our daughter’s smile is absolutely beautiful!!

  • Dr. Kincer is the BEST at what he does!!! Both of my girls have been under Dr. Kincer's care, with exceptional results. They both began treatment at age 8, because of their tiny mouths that required Phase I and Phase II treatments. As a result of his recommended treatment plan, our girls will have exceptional teeth for life. Our family is incredibly thankful for Dr. Kincer's meticulous care that resulted in BEAUTIFUL smiles!!!

  • Dr. Kincer is the best. I am almost a year into my treatment and i have nothing but great things to say. He is so kind and his team is amazing. They are simply amazing and truly care for what their customers need and what their teeth need. I highly recommend Doctor Kincer to anyone looking for orthodontics.

  • Excellent orthodontist. Invisalign was the best money I ever spent on myself. Dr. Kincer is meticulous, thorough, has attention to detail, and fixed my flared teeth. Everyone is always complimenting my smile. He is always timely, professional, and his support staff (Jennifer and Lynn) are really caring. He is able to shave down teeth to make them aesthetically fit my smile and proportions. Dr. Kincer and Lynn really make sure their patients are comfortable-- especially when it comes down to removing attachments for invisalign and IPR, when your teeth are already sensitive. I recommended him to my brother and little cousin for orthodontic work and for their retainers :)

  • After having my braces off for 12 years. I go in today to see my little sister get her braces off, and Dr. Kincer readjusted my Old retainers to fit again!! He is a great orthodontist!
